I Guarantee that You Will Live Forever!

"He must be crazy." - "Everyone dies." - "What's the catch?"

That's right. I guarantee that you will live forever. Some may ask, "Is there life after death?" The real question is, "Where will you spend the afterlife?"

Man became alienated from his creator at the very beginning, when Adam and Eve did not believe God's warning and ate from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.

This act of disobedience contaminated the world with the presence of sin. God still loved His creation and all through time has sought to reconcile man with Himself, but man has always rebelled and sought to do things on his own and in his own knowledge. Why should man think that he is smarter than his creator?

Man thinks that he can please God by being good - but can anyone be as good as God? The Bible says that, "All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." (Romans 3:23), and that, "The wages of sin is death." (Romans 6:23) God's holiness demands justice, and so He must punish our sinful rebellious way.

Well, if that's the case, how can we ever get right with God? If our own works are never good enough, it sounds like we don't have a chance. Not true! "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life." (John 3:16) You see, Jesus Christ, God's own son came to earth as a man, lived a sinless life, and was crucified for our sins, but then God raised Him from the dead. Jesus paid the price that God demanded for the sins of the world. "For Christ also died for sins once for all, the just for the unjust, so that He might bring us to God." (1 Peter 3:18)

Before you think, "Great. Things are squared away with God. I'll get on with my life." Wait! The most important part is still left to be done. Although the price has been paid, we must believe in the One who paid the price. If I told you that there was a prepaid ticket for a 7-day cruise in the Caribbean waiting at the docks, but you never went down to claim it, would you have the cruise? Of course not. It's the same with Jesus. Just knowing that the price has been paid, but not acting on it in your life, will not lead you to eternal life with God.

YOU MUST MAKE A CHOICE

If you do nothing, you will stay on your current road which leads to eternal separation from God when you die. This is not some party place that TV and the movies might make it out to be. It is a horrible, painful and lonely existing, with an endless longing to choose God - but it will be too late. You must choose now, in this life. "It is appointed for men to die once and after this comes judgement." (Hebrews 9:27)

SO, WHAT MUST YOU DO?

First, acknowledge that you are a sinner and repent from your sins. "Therefore repent and return, so that your sins may be wiped away." (Acts 3:19) Repentance is not just saying you are sorry. It is turning away from sin.

Second, place your faith in Jesus as the Savior for your sins. "For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, so that no one may boast." (Ephesians 2:8) We cannot be good enough (by works), but this is a gift to those who believe (by faith).

Third, confess Jesus as Lord and give Him control of your life. "If you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation." (Romans 10:9-10) "Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven will enter." (Matthew 7:21) Just saying the words is not enough, you must believe them enough to give Jesus control of your life. If you were lost while driving through an unfamiliar city, and you knew that your passenger did know the way, but you didn't give them control, then you'd still be lost. You must let them guide the car, just as you must let Jesus guide your life.

So, will you live forever? Yes. But now that you know what the Bible says, do you know if you will live forever with God or without God. Unless you have already done those three things above, you are already heading for an eternity without God. You can change that right now, by humbly praying like this: "Father, I know that I am a sinner. I know that there is nothing I can do to earn my way to heaven. I believe that Jesus Christ died for my sins and paid the price for my sin once and for all. I believe that Jesus conquered death when He was resurrected and it is only through Him that I can be reconciled to an eternal life with God. I acknowledge Jesus as Lord and give my life to him. Thank you for your saving grace."

You may even know that you are a sinner, but feel that your sins are so great that God could never forgive you. Remember this, "But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." (Romans 5:8) Jesus didn't say, "Get your act together, then I'll die for you." He died for us as sinners. Accept Jesus now, and let Him turn your life around.

If you prayed this prayer, tell someone you know that is a believer, go to your local church and speak with the pastor, or send us an e-mail. If you would like more information, let us know. We'd be happy to answer your questions and to pray for you.
